  4. As Andrew said Vauxhall, or you have Newport Pagnel, luton angling, watford, have a look on the Environmental agency web site they have a map of areas and the club and waters within each one which might be of use. I did fish Newport pagnell for quite a few years they do have 20lb + carp in some of there lakes , the abbeys used do well for carp. all the best.

  7. looking to buy a new pump and filter this year, can anyone recommend a make etc , my pond is approx 17ftx12ftx3.5-4ft deep and well planted to a shelf all the way round its border, the fish population is approx 70-100 1oz-5ozs size fish.any advice welcome
  8. I had a google round looking into this, dvla, rospa sites and both these sort of give the impresssion that if the vehicle is not fitted with belts then adults can travel but not children! strange
  9. I used to work in a corn flour plant and it scared the crap out of me, powder explosions hurt when they knock you off your feet
  10. driven carefully i get 36-40 to a gal from my freelander2, quite good on the road and again if driven correctley off road.done approx 40k in it over the last 3 years my only complaint would be the hand brake is to close to the drivers seat, it might be i have big hands though.
  11. I have a freelander 2 and its been just great in this snow, i do also take it off road quite a lot and it seems to handle most things, had a slight problem with a sensor on the rear diff that caused it to lose all but four wheel drive, but that was only a ten minute fix at the dealer.
  12. I have been using a kk for about 3 years, and have always been able to find twigs dry enough even in the wettest weather that will light, I also use fire lighters to get it going, i usually just use a small piece of fire lighter for this and have never found the need to use a whole one. Boils water, bbq i also use the pan stand for warming up soup etc. I cant see any fishery not allowing these as they are classed as an enclosed fire and pose no risk, there also good a keeping the mozzies away in the summer.
  13. The banks provide a service (ok sometimes not a very good one) which we all need, and as a service we have to pay for it, YOU DONT GET YOU CAR SERVICED FOR FREE. We dont question how much people in other proffesions earn so why should we be worrying about what bank staff earn.
  14. my duaghetr lives in a house that has some age to it and has noticed a lot of ladybirds in the edge of the windows frames when they are opened.
  15. I have used them Tench quite often, i hair rig them and to make sure they stay on i use the elastic used by our sea fishermen to make sure it stays on, they are a bit fiddly to hair rig , especially if you want to cast them any distance.
  16. its a small world , i was in Largs on the 19th , got back from Scotland last Sat, stayed in a lovely B&B on the Greenock road (Appin) before heading further up country.in fact i parked the car in front of the church in your 3rd from last photo.
  17. How could he ride a bike with a fag in one hand and a cup of tea in the other
  18. I fish with lob worms under a sturdy float and loose feed loosley with maggots to atract the small bait fish it seems to work
  19. We tried those tinned burgers, one mouthful and they ended up in the bin, just dont know how perople can eat that Crap. If you out for a couple of nights and not close enough to get takaways it is hard to find things to cook on a couple of gas rings that will fill you up, I have seen those ovens that you can sit on top of gas stoves and have been tempted, but thought its just someting else that you have to lugg around the lake to your swim.
  20. dapper64 , I do target carp sometimes but this time of year Tench are my real target, i feed and fish with maggot rigs but recentley the carp have taken a liking to them to often.
  21. I use my sleeping bag as a matress on my bed chair and just use a thermal bed cover, hae been out in most weather never felt the cold/damp, do wear a second skin and track suit type final layer. food on the bank, me and my fishing partner (Dave) always cook proper meals when we are on the lake for 24hrs or more, other anglers are some time drawn from around the lake when Dave gets the chip pan out.
  22. Iam quite happy just catching fish, but have been chasing big perch and Tench for the past 20 odd years and have been blessed with some getting quite close at times to then current records, perhaps one day i might just clip the record, i suppose it is why sometimes we fish.
  23. Thought i would start my Tenching early this year, one bream on the fiRSt night around 8-9lb , lifted into a fish in the morning , really shaking its head, its a tench, no its a carp no iam sure its a big tench , no its a carp, 32lb and apparentley its a new record for the lake iam fishing, great fun on 2lb test curve roads anyway.
  24. Chesters , I stand corrected, The Motor Vehicle Tyres (Safety) Regulations 1994 SI No. 3117 was what i was thinking of but could not remember the comple te content.
