River Otter

anyone know anything about this river. all i know its in devon near newton popelford. looking for genral info

I live in Ottery St. Mary which the River Otter runs through and know a little about it. It's quite narrow through Ottery St. Mary and is a notable trout water but most of it is private or owned by the Trout Fishing Club. Towards the end of the river as you get near Budleigh Salterton, you can get a few general coarse fish such as roach and a few chub as well as trout and sea trout. It's also a good water for mullet especially around the area where it spills into the sea at Budleigh.

Yup, I agree, it's great for sea-trout although they're very wary. Of course it's tidal ... and very shallow when the tide's out

Lovely little river though .. and I think free from the mouth for a mile or so upstream // either that or I've been guesting it

Your nearest tackle shop would be Exeter Angling Centre in Smythen Street right in the middle of Exeter. It's the biggest in the Southwest so whatever type of fishing you're going to do, they'll have the tackle/bait you need. To get a map just go to Multimap.com and type in the street and town.
