Blurring the edges.

I was just wondering how many other anglers utilise methods and experiences, developed for one sector of the sport, and then use them successfully in other sectors.

For example.

I often use my Pike live/dead baiting gear and methods for fishing for Sea Bass and Pollack. Having used both popped up float ledgered static deadbaits, and drifted live Joey's and small Mullet using a Fox drifter system.

My "Work Horse" lure rod set up and Pike fly fishing gear both being suitable for fresh and Salt Water gets used a fair bit on the river estuaries and coastal rock marks. Even catching small sharks to around 15lb on Mag-gubs and fish tipped, large minnow type crankbaits in the Canaries.

I had a lot of success with Jerkbaiting for Sea Bass last summer, and was quiet surprised by the size of jerkbait a decent size Sea Bass would hit. My father, and a some of his mates trolled jerkbaits over a 10-12 feet deep razor fish bed and each of them caught decent size Cod (but that is another, and very humorous story).

During this winters Pike and Zander campaign, I successfully adapted and used a Sea fishing, top pulley rig for presenting Live baits. See link http://home.wanadoo.nl/escort/RigsNL/Gemini/lyn059.htm

I am interested in finding out about other sector cross overs, employed by other anglers.

Yep used ledgered float tactic that had worked for Pike during the winter to catch carp on the same lake during the summer, when usual carp tactics seemed to stall. Took wire off and changed bait of course.. :)

Use zingers when coarse fishing.

That's an easy one lads, which I occasionally use.

It also reminded me of my Dad's friend.

He uses a large plastic grip mesh feeder, loaded with bread crumb based groundbait, and a bread paste hook bait for the Mullet in Saundersfoot harbour. Although he uses this rig on his beach caster, instead of ledger rod.
