New rod, new pin, new stretch new favourite

I brought myself a new float rod today to match my new pin :)

I thought I'd test it out on a little Thames tributary, expecting little dace, and trout. Wow was I wrong! I had loads of chub most over a pound some up 2 and a half or so. It was amazing every likely looking spot was literally stuffed with fish! It took me 2 hours to cover about 100 yards of bank it was amazing!

Playing the chub was terrifying, this stream is very small and really shallow and trying to bring angry chub up against the flow was really tough!

Needless to say I'll be back tomorrow!

Here is a pic of one of the bigger chub and a bonus roach!

Nice result and nice pics Richard. To me that is the essence of fishing, I am afraid I have none of those fish filled streams around here, Although did fish the Teme yesterday and grabbed my first of the season barbel!!!

But oh for a roach on the trot

Nice one Richard and a very smart looking pin you have there ;):) I am hoping to get out tomorrow, I had Matthew returning home today & did not know what time so couldn't go out.

Tight lines for tomorrow.

I've tied not to draw attention to the colour! I love it but I don't want anyone else to!

I was drawn to the colouring from the browning centrepins. a nice maroon/burgandy redish colour ,because strangley modern reels suite modern colours and old reels are best natural or any colour you like so long as its black ! .i congratulate you on a excellent choice of colour as your reel look great .I might have too have a rethink on the colour now ,

Sounds very much like my session on the Len Richard.

I wonder what the explanation is for the apparent explosion of chub around the 1lb mark?

(Come to think of it, that could be why the catch of small fry that I normally experience on the Len seemed to be missing - the chub are not only around in numbers, but are hungry!)
