Feeder in Eastern Europe

Hello Everybody. I'm from Ukraine. There are many middle size rivers in our country where we can use feeder for fishing. Feeder is relatively new method of fishing in our contry that's why I want to know how people use it in other contries. What kind of riggings do you have? What feeding up do you use? What ledger-baits are most efficient? And so on.

There are such types of fish in our rivers as:

-carp

-ide

-roach

-bream

-crucian

-tench etc.

Please share your experience with me. Thank you.

Hey Denis, for exploratory fishing on rivers you don't know too much about, maggot feeder will find out alot about the species / size of fish that are there. Worms / corn on the hook are also worth a try and if you are hunting down big carp then you could give boilies / pellets a go. A sliding feeder rig with a 2 to 3 foot hooklength would be a good starting point. It's the most simple form of feeder fishing. Thread your feeder onto your mainline, tie a swivel on the end, tie your hooklength to the other end of the swivel and you're ready to go. You could try using a cage feeder with groundbait as well.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Hi Denis, welcome to Anglersnet.

Here's a link to a few feeder rigs. It's easier to show a diagram than try to explain in just words.

For general fishing I prefer the last two on the list.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Thank you John.

Unfortunaly I can see only one rig which is semi fixed rig.

I prefer such rig as asymmetrical loop. I want to know what hooks you use. I use only Gamakatsu hooks which size is 14. What hooks can you advise me?

I use cord as basic fishing-line. My cord has 0,17 mm in diameter. Can I move to smaller cords if my catch doesn't exceed 2 kg.

How do you connect a fishing-line with a rig? Have you some interesting knots?

Thank you for answers.

Sorry Denis, I posted the wrong link.

This should be it.

I don't really have a favourite hook, It changes as to what fish I'm hoping to catch, and with what bait. Sizes can be from 20 to 4, again the size of bait decides.

I don't fish at distance so I don't feel the need for braid, but would use a mono hook length if I did.

There are those on here who fish the feeder far more than I do, so I hope that they add their preferences to give you more choice.
