Norfolk Broads Catfish

my family have a property on the norfolk broads,the anglers we let fish from the lawn have been catching alot of catfish,about 30,from 2lb to 57lb,the story goes that an elderly resident of ranworth put them in the inner broad in 1997,well it appears that they have found there way out! the reports of anglers being snapped up are getting very common, anyone heard similar?

Is that for real or a roundabout sort of way of attracting anglers to fish from his lawn

Any pictures? The Inner Broad is managed as a nature reserve so I do have my doubts. That plus the grapevine has kept very quiet on this one. I go with the publicity theory.
