Last Year's Fry

Last year, I took great delight in watching a few fry in the margins. I only ever got to see them late at night with a torch, but spent considerable time sitting there at night.

 

I thought they'd perished, but managed to see at least two three-inch fish last week, as I was watching the others. They were dark coloured, so I could only see them when they swam over the other fish.
