Welcome to Anglers' Net John. I took about a 20 year break at one point and I remember it being almost scary when I decided to start fishing again.

Hello to All,

Hi Dave ,

Stopped serious fishing in about `96 having moved due to work followed by divorce.Am not the slightest bit intimidated by lay off as many of the methods I employed then seem to be in use today.Am now 58 years old and just having lost an old friend to cancer ( even though I had not seen him for about 30 years )I sort of re-evaluated my life, and the other third of "us", another good friend who is possibly one of the best anglers in the country encouraged me to try again.I realised that I would not go to my deathbed thinking "I wish I had not gone fishing as much" or conversely "wish I had spent more time at work" !! I have had some good friends in fishing and still do have , some famous and some not so famous but just as, in all walks of life,it is easy to lose touch. This season I am looking forward to breaking the 7lb. tench barrier as my best of 6 lb 11oz. ( but I did catch two ,and not the same fish , was caught in 1985) I have bought some new rods ,( my old glass tench tamers bought from Wizzo aka J ) will be retired, into carbon/kevlar and the Shimano revolution now . Should mention that I once lived in London then Norfolk now Kent
