Fed up with Tiscali's incompetance! New ISP needed?

I'm fed up with Tiscali's incompetance (3 failed attempts at securing a direct debit!) and today's bill of £119.92 (dating back to last October!) was the last straw!

Can anyone recommend a good (monthly payment) ISP for around £15?

I've been using BT for about 3 years now, and apart from the odd slow speed issue in the past (but not for the last year or so) I've had no problems. You can access your e-mail via the web from anywhere, and they provide anti-spam filtering free (which is OK, but doesn't catch everything).

To be honest they all seem much of a muchness, and all seem to be around the £15 - £16 mark.

Jaffa,

What is it you need, exactly, for your 15 squid?

I've been on v21 for nearly a year now. Maximum of 42 hours per week for £9.99 per month all in. A couple of times a week (usually Saturdays) it takes a while to get a connection, but I've got no complaints so far.

Take a look at www.lobsterpot.net.

Nildram are one of the best ISP's but never had a real consumer focus, have been for years and still are, read some reviews, I doubt you'll find a bad one.

Recently swapped to AOL which is £15 or £16 a month for unlimited access. Used to have Freeserve but they were a nightmare, crashed at least twice a day.

whoops, missed off the uk

should read

http://www.lobsterpot.net.uk/

Pay coppers under £15 per month, connect first time everytime, no auto disconnect, good support if ever needed

Been using Nildram / Lobsterpot for various purposes over the past 6 years, it's the one ISP I have kept all through that period, even when I've had other accounts with other ISP's 'cos they didn't have the exact product I needed at a particular time, I've used the following:

tiscali

freeserve

plusnet

btinternet

AOL

demon

legend

onetel

pipex

uunet

and several others that I can't remember or no longer exist.

Forgot to say if you want usenet then they're not the ISP for you unless you use a seperate news (free) server as I do (at least they don't pretend to offer news like btinternet and then have an appalling service)
