Urban Myth?

I don't know whether there's any truth to this, but it's a tale told by the repair guy at my local tackle shop.

 

The story is that a guy paid several million quid for a decommissioned oil rig and subsequently declared it as an island nation in it's own right.

 

"Speculators" then paid the guy large sums of money to become citizens with ambassadorial status, which then entitled them to diplomatic immunity.

Using this immunity, these diplomats took full advantage of their status by transporting large quantities of best Columbian snow in their diplomatic baggage, now that they had Carte Blanche to do so.

 

A quick search on Google didn't turn up anything, I wondered if anyone else had heard this story and whether there's any substance to it.

I don't think becoming an ambassador for sealand would gain you any diplomatic rights so although sealand does exist I feel the drug smuggling part of the story is probably urban myth
