Quality Issues? - Matt hayes Limited Edition Centrepin

I contacted Dragon Carp Direct (DCD) about this. Here's their reply:

Dear AN members

Just to keep you in the picture. So far we have sold 700 centrepins and had just two returned. So, in general, you can see it has been a successful reel.

We've trialled the reel against a Cortesi and it isn't as free-spinning, but it is a different design. It can be made more free-spinning by more lubrication and a little loosening off, should that be the angler's preference. It isn't Matt's choice but each to their own. That's the beauty of angling - no right or wrong, just different.

The reel was taken out last week for a videoed trial - given to an experienced angler but someone who is a novice at 'pin fishing. He had the day of his life and a 6xNo4 stick float freely tripped line off the spool. Any more free-running and it would have caused him trouble.

If anyone has any issue with the pin, I urge you to return it straight away and we'll replace it. No problem.

The film of the reel is use will be edited by Monday morning, and Elton will hopefully share it with you.

Many thanks,

DCD

I've no idea who but someone's telling porkies as i've seen more than two people posting on forums complaining about the reel they've received and that they where returning them due to their quality.

I don't think it would fill me with confidence if I was thinking of buying one.
