'Pearl-fish'

Pangolin

Recommended Posts

Holidaying in Austria, this summer, I noticed that their lakes hold a fish they call the 'pearl-fish' It looks like a cross between a chub and a mullet, with a pearly appearance to the scales on its flanks. When out in a boat, one day, I came across one in distress, on the surface, that must have been about twelve pounds. I looked for it in my old 'Collins guide' when I got back, but couldn't identify it. Does anyone know?

You meet all kinds of animal on the riverbank.
