The Flying Tench 40
Oh dear, I've a new computer and I'm asking loads of questions at the moment, but I'm certainly appreciating the answers. Is there any way of controlling the magnification, and therefore page width, of Internet Explorer pages? A bit like the Zoom function in Word. I'm using Windows 8. Anglers Net seems OK at present, but some web pages only seem to take up half the width of the screen, which makes the words rather small to read. Another thing, when I first got the new machine if I opened a pdf I couldn't do anything with it - save etc. Then I downloaded Adobe Reader and it works fine if someone emails me a pdf, but if I get one via the web it still doesn't work. Is there something else I should download? Thanks J john clarke
Andy_1984 275
Hold control and scroll your mouse wheel up and down to zoom or CTRL, + or - on your numpad. im sure it works on IE. If not there should be an option under view I believe (you might need to press ALT on your keyboard to get the menus up top if you cant see them). Changing your screen resolution to a larger number would give more screen area to all applications. as for PDf is the pdf opening in the "Browser" and not adobe pdf, if its opne in browser press CTRL + S to save it to desktop and open with adobe that way. The Flying Tench 40
Thanks. CTRL and + on number pad worked brilliantly. Pressing ALT to get the menus up top worked the first time, but for some reason it doesn't seem to work now. Would downloading a tool bar help, and is there one you would recommend? Andy_1984 275
Make sure you don't have any sort of text box selected on the website (like the reply box here) as ALT might not work. It's a bit weird it only worked once. Or did you mean something else ? Owner of Tacklesack.co.uk Moderator at The-Pikers-Pit.co.uk

The Flying Tench 40
Well I found when I pressed the square box in top rh corner between - and x, thus somewhat decreasing the size of the page, that pressing alt always seemed to work - and File etc are always there now when I log on so thanks, problem solved. john clarke
