pole/whip

I have been thinking of starting pole fishing but don't really want to spend big money on something I'm still not sure about so I was wondering if a whip might be a good place to start an if so what kind/size would be good to start with and would I be better with an elasticated one are just an eye any help would be much appreciated

For what and where are you planning to fish?

 

An answer without a few more details will be pretty useless.

If the plan is to get into pole fishing then getting a elasticated whip would be best an eyed whip is only really good for catching small fish on the likes of a canal and this won't show u the basics of pole fishing

Its to help decide rather are not to get a pole and I will be using it on a local lake for roach
