Strange Rules

Well - I was semi-sorta-kinda serious and the rest was polking some gentle fun at the UK where ponds and small lakes are the norm.

850 acres is about 1.3 square miles or 3.4 square kilometers. Not a puddle certainly. Not even a pond. But as lakes here go, it is a small one.

Oddly enough, the 850 acre lake is one of them in this group with no horsepower limit on boats and that is really strange. A big outboard motor would barely have time to reach good running speed before you were across the lake and the wake would disturb a good portion of it.

Electric would be suitable as would an outboard in the 10hp or less category.

It's only England that has p*xy little lakes Newt. Scotland has some fairly big ones. The largest is Loch Lomond. It is about 25 miles long, 5 miles wide at the widest part and up to 600 feet deep. I know it not exactly Lake Superior, but it is superior to most of the English 'puddles'

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Oops. I knew that. Large lakes and boats and all the normal fishing stuff up there. Oops.

'Tis OK. I kinda knew that you knew that anyway and was just having a tease .

Loch Lomond even has a paddle steamer on it, and although it's been a few years since she turned a paddle in anger I reckon her engines can output a tad more than 299 bhp. :P
