Funny you should come in here. It was you I reffered to in my post. If you remember we spoke on the bank a few weeks ago whilst I was walking the bank prior to a Match I was fishing. Passed on your regards to Phil at the match.

Hi Jim

I do a bit of Winter chub fishing all around the Maidstone and also the Ashford area (quick trip at lunchtime from work ) mostly roving small rivers.

Are you after a good bag of fish, or after that elusive big one?

I may be able to point you at some decent venues, most are free fishing and some would surprise you at where they are.

There was an authenticated Chub of 7lbs odd,out of the Beult on the Kingfishers new stretch at Yalding. I was sent pictures to put on the website, but they were of too poor a quality. Also, there was a fish of 6lb plus reported from the Hammer Stream near Headcorn, (not the Beult), I did not get pictures of this but it was in the Society newsletter.

If you still have your KAPS Ticket this might be of help.

Tony

Tony was that the KAPS stretch of the Hammer Stream or the bit that flows into the Beult?

A very informative discussion; many thanks to everyone who has been so generous with their information. Looks like I'll be spending time this coming winter on the Teston-Barming stretch of the Medway, and the lower Beult (I used to fish the latter for chub many years ago when it was controlled by A.C.T. fisheries).

Carl and Nick - thanks for the offer to contact you via a PM; I would if I knew how! I've only recently mastered posting on general-access sites (like this one); the subtleties and intricacies of sending PMs are, at present, beyond me. I'd be delighted to hear from you, though.
