The big blue screen??

I got one of these yesterday plus a message saying "dumping physical memory"

Sounded serious so pulled the plug quick.

I didn't get the chance to read any more as panic seemed to be in control.

Any ideas anyone??

The PC started up again after it was switched off for ten minutes.

Next time, let it run so you can see (and copy down) the exact, entire message.

If you are running 2K or XP, you want to set them NOT to reboot on error so they will go to a blue screen and stay there until you reboot - otherwise you can't figure out what the error is.

"Dumping Physical Memory" just means the system was placing a copy (dumping) of all the data that was in memory into a log file for later review by a tech if needed.

The problem that triggered the crash and memory dump could be simple or major. Could be from a program you have that is mis-behaving. Or any of a few dozen other things.
