Keyboard problem

Recommended Posts

I'm having trouble getting used to the keyboard with my new Dell computer. In many ways it's fine, but I have to press the shift key down for much longer than with my old one and this often results in lower case letters when I want capitals.

Is there an adjustment I can make on Windows or something? If so how do I go about it?

Thanks.

Is it USB or Wireless?

It's USB, and yes, it does seems to be with both shift keys although I can't be sure as I don't normally use the right hand shift key. I type with just 2 fingers of the right hand and use 1 finger of my left hand for the left hand shift key!

Sounds like a USB or driver delay, try the KB in some of the other USB ports to see if the delay changes. (Strange as the old type PS2 keyboards are actualy serial devices as well!)

If not try a 'proper' PS2 Keyboard on the PC - I bet that will work fine.

Thanks, Tog, I'll try that shortly.

My old keyboard did work properly on this new Dell computer. However, Dell's own brand one that came with it is the one I'm having this problem with.

If I can't get it sorted I'll go back to the old keyboard.

Then I (or rather Peggy!) will just have to figure out how to make the Dell keyboard work on the old machine. It doesn't like it at all!

Thanks, Ian. However, I don't know how to check the BIOS settings myself so I'm passing your idea to Peggy.
