A friend of mine is looking for Compaq Presario 2212 powerpack - model number sp9628. (293814-001)

Does anyone know where can get one as tried listed on Goggle, MSM.com etc etc but not getting anywhere.

Please if anyone help, I would be appreciated

Is that a laptop?

If so this lot do a few:

But as long as the volts/current and connector are ok there are 'generic' ones.

Why does he need a special power pack?

There are 4 'types' 2 the old standards and 2 the newer type 'P4'.

Unless it's one of those odd special's some pc makers are so beloved of.....

Aha!, It's a silly custom thingy....

Probably 200 watts ish.

A std 'small' PSU should fit in the hole but a bit of 'tinwork' may be required.

This might be the one:

But get him to hoike it out and have a look at the spec and connector (old AT one?) - probably best to take it to Maplin's so they can see the size and connector.

with a lot of these 'custom' cases & psu's only the outer bit of metalwork is 'custom' and often can be unscrewed and put on the replacement PSU. If not you may need to drill a few mounting holes in the PC case - not a job for those who might leave swarf in the box and (DO NOT drill a hole in the PSU case itself).

Egads! that's a long thin one....

What mainboard connector does it have? (or is it that odd one in top right of picture?)

If so you may need to 'cut and shut' the connector with a terminal block in order to reuse the connector if you can find a PSU to go in the hole.

I hate PC makers like Compaq, HP, IBM and Dell who use custom parts willy nilly.

Mind you many compaq machines were designed as throwaway consumer boxes.

some others in the US but it's a very odd one - is the makers info readable?

a few more who stock it - it may be easier via the maker if you have the details - I did a HP tape drive PSU the other week - only cost £15! (HP dealer tried to sell us a new megasupertapedrive instead).
