My sons girlfriend has just come over from the USA and brought her Toshiba laptop with her, the ac adaptor that conects to the computer via mains has the american type 2 pin push in connector, I'll take this off and put our 3 pin plug on in place of it....But....on the back of the adaptor it has the details INPUT 100-240V 1.7-0.75A 50-60Hz will it be ok to plug into our mains? and plug that into the laptop?

Thanks for your time men hoppy

The Black wire should be connected to LIVE and the White wire of your Yank flex to Neutral.

And as Jeeps says '100-240Vac' means it will work anywhere within that range (universal supply) '110/240' would mean a switch will need flipping and it will only work at 110 OR 240V

Some 'travel adaptors' have a Yank type outlet on them - I use quite a bit of foreign stuff via them.
