Kayak Fishing Meet, Sardinia

Recommended Posts

Have just been contacted by a kayak fishing photo journalist, yes there is another one Simon :) His name is Alfio and he lives in Sardinia. He has invited us all to join the First Mediterranean KF Meeting in Sardinia, October 23 2005.

He has also sent me a series of very nice pictures which I will be posting once he has given his permission.

See I told you there were people south of the Isle of Wight. :D

No, Sardines come from Corsica!

You can catch a ferry to Corsica and then Sardinia from Nice - but even so Nice is 900 miles from the Channel ports. A good 12 hours if you drive through the night. Then you have the ferry crossing - I think I'll pass on it this year. Would be a good ne to borrow a kayak for though don't you think - or arrange for a group of us to go in a van with the kayaks in... Hell, with about 20 pitching into the kitty you could probably charter a small plane and fly us and the kit down.....Tuna there you know, blue fins, in the channel between the two islands and only an hours paddle off the shore from Corsica. I have a friend who owns an estate at the bottom end of Corsica with beaches and a lodge... :D:D

Tuna on the Kayak Now that would be some fish to cut your teeth on.

1 on the lure is worth 2 from the bait.

I'll tell him next year then. :)

Like you say Simon, it would make a great road trip, mind you can't see me getting a 2 week pass or a week pass, without moving house, decorating it throughout, buying the missus a nice new beetle convertible, getting a nanny to look after the kids and promising to take them all somewhere hot for a fortnight directly afterwards :D

Take them with you - Sardinia is jet set territory and a wonderful place to go on holiday. It just happens to be Italian, whereas Corsica is, technically, French - although they do their own thing! It so happens that they have really good fishing.
