Fish finders

Hi guys

I was just wondering what fish finder to fit and thought of all you helpful people out there Any tips on which one and how to fit would be great Thanks

Choice will depend on a number of things: water depth of your fishing grounds, preference for colour or B&W screen, size of unit, waterproofness, & budget.

 

I've yet to fit a finder although there a number of us here with Humminbird and Eagle units.

Hi speciman

The depth of water is general 20m,I would prefer grey & black screen with waterproof a must and size not to bulky on a sensible budget.

like Speciman said the Humminbird and Eagles are the favourites, if you want a built in GPS there is the newish Lowrance combined unit, same size as the smaller Eagles, looks good, but I have no experience of them, off to the Southampton Boat Show a the weekend and it's one of the items I want to check out.

 

Best advice is get the best screen resolution you can afford, also make sure that the unit works in direct sunlight, something the Humminbirds are good at.

One from the Humminbird Matrix springs to mind

 

Having seen Starvins they are easy to detach from the mount, float, are waterproof and have dual beam.

 

An even more compact and cheaper finder would an Eagle Cuda.

Starvin can you tell me the model number of the Lowrance unit? I'd like to take a look at the specs.

Lowrance 52i S/GPS, seen it for £209 they have a gaggle of others with GPS, including a colour unit, but this just seemed like a good price for a combined unit.
