Hi Richi

White water consultancy do a coiled paddle leash. www.wwc.co.uk search under "paddle leash"

It's made by wilderness systems and costs £17.95. We have a pair for our canoe and they are pretty good. They also do a shorter version for £16.95.

Richi.

Make sure the leash you choose is up to the job.

If you get tipped in the surf, a lot of pressure can be put onto the kit by the waves, you need a leash that will stand up to it.

Dont want to loose the paddle because of weak clips/links snapping.

Could leave you in the chit :)

Richi,

Have you played around with the positioning of your leash, I like to keep mine connected at the front right hand side of the cockpit, that way any spare leash tends to sit in front of my feet out of the way, I also make sure that it is fitted tightly to the paddle, if not secure it can slip up and down the paddle which can be annoying, have a fiddle if you haven't already, it's a cheaper option. :)

Also the Ocean Kayak leash is a very simple design which is unlikely to fail if put under excessive pressure. Like Yakity says, you don't want a failure when your in the white stuff.

managed to get some of the wilderness system coiled leashes from woodmill canoeing centre in southampton.i think the shackles look weak and likely to fail under pressure.i think i will use them as rod leashes and try different positions for my o.k.leash afterall safety is number 1 priority.thanks to all for valuable advice.
