Float Fishing In Half Light

Its not that the fish can see the light, John, more a case that the light is visable under water. This means that the float doesn't disappear, so to speak, when it goes down.

As has been said by a few others, I find black the easiest to see in low light.

Try sliding a piece of black float rubber over the tip about half an inch long, It used to work for me.

Tigger, what about Peter's problem that in clear water the fish can see the light?

 

As i say i've never had a problem with the float still being visible when it's pulled under the water.

Sometimes you if the tip of the float is only just under the waters surface then you possibly can still see it but you can easily see you've got a bite. Also you would have to be fishing very close in for this to happen (imo) that is.

As i said i think the battery floats are brill (not the ones with the hearing aid batterys in them). As for the fish seeing the light when i used to use one many years ago for carping they would sometimes take my floating bread right next to the float and i've even had them haveing a stab at swallowing the float (must look like a toffee) but seriously i would deffo recommend them.

I just bought a LED float on e-bay for £2.99 (saved legging it up town to the tackle shop, lazy git..) comes with two hearing aid batteries and is very bright. Float is about the size of a larger waggler. Check it out...
