Fishing In The Czech Republic

Recommended Posts

I have just finished converting a barn on my farm which is near the Orlik Reservoir about an hour south of Prague. The reservoir is 2,732ha with bank length of around 300km and the water is upto 100m deep and is well know for carp and catfish in Czech. I am looking to advertise accomodation for fishing trips and will be traveling to the Uk next month. Can anyone help me by recomending the best places to advertise?

There are a number of UK carp magazines that have a small foreign section in them (such as Advanced Carp fishing), but the only one dealing completely with worldwide carping is International Carper. The weekly Carp-Talk is another mag that may be worth aproaching.

It might also be worthwhile advertising in the Dutch and German magazines/websites as they tend to travel to the Czech waters far more than Brits do. Also try advertising in the Czech Republic carp magazines. I write for magazines in all of these countries. Peggy and I had our honeymoon in what's now the Czech Rebublic and fished one afternoon on Lake Lipno. Most of the tourists were German, and there were two signs up for hiring boats, one in German and the other in Czech. The prices in German were ten times as much! Peggy's a bit of a linguist and by mentioning the words lodi (boat) and rybi (fish) got the Czech rate!

We went back to Prague for our tenth anniversary, and will maybe return for our 20th. Great country, great people!

Lipno and Prague are very popular with Brits now (Prague mainly for hen&stag parties) and the Germans do tend to get charged more where ever posible, but I was wondering more about why brits dont travel here to fish. Is it that the waters are unknow to British anglers or are the facilities not the same as would be found in say Italy and Spain which are a similar distance to travel?
