Fox Treck Spin 4 Piece Rod

Recommended Posts

I've also posted this thread on the coarse forum but given that allegedly it casts 3oz, I thought some of our travelling sea anglers might have had a look at it.

This rod is 9'6'' and rated to cast 40 to 100gms which would seem to make it just the job for my trips to the tropics. I've not seen one so before I flex my plastic, I'd appreciate any information from anyone who has, particularly about whether the rated casting weight is realistic.

Will this rod really punch out (rather than lob) lures upto and just over 3oz ?

Any comments of the action would be appreciated as well. Is it stiff or sloppy and is it tippy (fast) or through(slow) ?

Have not used the fox one but did buy a greyflex spin which has the same casting weight credentials as the fox, it is a delight to use , quite tippy and fast tapered. Should there be any breakage Greys will replace for £15.00 total; lifetime guarantee. I have no confidence in fox gear though.

Don't know about the Fox but I've heard very good reports about the Greys Sea Spin. It's 11ft long and is in three sections which obviously helps with transportation. It's rated at 28gm-90gm with a lifetime guarantee. The RRP is £99.99 but I've seen it advertised for £89.99 at FishingBig. I've not used the Sea Spin myself but have the lighter 9ft 15gm-35gm Greys Missionary Spin which is a superb rod for lighter lures and spinners.
