fly lines

My choice would be an 8 w/f floating for resevoirs or a 7 d/t for dry fly on a river (assuming you will be in the water sneaking up on fish at relatively short range)

I would use a w/f 8 for deeper work using a sink tip line. I dont fish anywhere deep enough to use a hi/d sinker.

These are only my opinions and I do not claim to be an expert

Good luck

Peter

A bad days fishing is better than a good day at the office. Tight lines all.

I would only use WF 8's on this rod for both sinking and floating lines. When a rod has 2 rating numbers, I understand that the highest is for WF lines and the lowest for double tapers. this is because if you are a good caster you can aerialise more of a double taper so you can use a lighter one. Double tapers do not have many applications nowadays especially on still waters although they are OK for shortlining from a boat. hope this helps.

The line rating for floaters and sinkers, weight forward and double taper lines is the same. It is based on the weight of the first 30ft of the line. When a rod has a daul rating the lower line weight will suit those who prefer a faster casting stroke and the higher line rating will have the effect of slowing the rod down.
