Has the picture on your friend's site been changed. Apart from the shadows, it looks absolutely fine to me on my monitor. In fact it's better than the bigger picture you posted here.

Personally all I think needs doing is to get rid of those shadows completely. There's probably several ways to do that . One way might be to take the photo against a background which is a completely different colour than any part of the pepper mills. Then you should be able to tell Photoshop to change all shades of that colour to a new (uniform) colour. Don't ask me how to do it though. I know you can, but don't now how to.
