a friend of mine want to know if there are any catfish in the river severn or any where else in the wolverhampton vicinety.

 

any help would be great. cheers

None that I've ever heared of in the Severn.

 

If it's a UK river fish you're after, you could try the Great Ouse, the Trent or the Thames as there have been plenty of rumours about big cats in these rivers over recent years - of course actually going out and catching a big fish that is only rumoured to exist can be a bit like tring to nail down smoke.

 

For local cats, Shattersford fishery between Bewdley and Bridgenorth has a fair few and I think there are some in an estate lake just outside Dudley but I can't remember the name - Hampton or hagley hall - well something like that.

I fished shatterford once. Great if you like to fish in a small concrete tank. Take a normal brolly as a titan or oval will not fit on the bank and pegs into concrete are a challenge. There is a bit of earth you can get a brolly spike into. My viper actually had to hang over the waters edge.

ben i think towsend fishery has has em.it`s in the village of alveley off the bewdley/bridgnorth road just behind pool hall and a couple of miles up the road from shattersford. some very big perch in there as well.

cheers i will look up townsend as pool hall ahs cats but dont like it to much there. i never heard of townsend does any one have any contact numbers.

 

seems a good location from me though poolhall is only 5 mins my car.
