Good question Snatcher

If you are fishing stillwaters that are not overly deep-ask yourself,do i really need a sinking line. You can still fish a fair way down with a floater and long leader,or a sinktip.I used to use a sinker when fishing the reservoirs during the colder months, but usually only fish smaller stillwaters now,and usually use a floater.

Peter.I have no knowledge of scottish lochs, but would hazard a guess tha the floater should serve you ok.

Obviously if it's very cold, and the loch is very deep then the sinker would come into play.Best to ask for as much info as possible when you get there.

Good luck
