Camera for France next year

Hi all,

I'm going carp fishing in France next year and would like to upgrade my camera at some point.

Features I'd like it to have would be;

A large memory (perhaps memory sticks or those little cards that go in and you save photo's to them, then change over etc..)

Decent flah for night time pictures

Very clear

Preferrably to include a tripod (do they, or do you have to buy seperately?)

And finally something where you can take the picture yourself by kneeling or pressing a little button (no idea what they're called) or a timer on the camera so I can take pics of fish if I'm on my own.

Looking to spend no more than £200 if possible.

Sorry, don't know much about camera's, so what I've just said is probably a load of rubbish.

Cheers for any suggestions, Dan :yeah:

Dan

Have a look at Canon A series of digital cameras. They consistently do well in head to head reviews and can be used in point and shoot mode but also offer full or partial manual control.

They also have class-leading battery life, and take rechargeable AA batteries that can be easily obtained almost anywhere in the world.

Moreover, they're particularly suitable for anglers. This is because firstly the autofocus works in the dark - and a lot of fishing photos are taken in low light. Secondly, the revolving screen makes it easy to take self-portraits as you can see that yourself and the fish will be in the shot. Thirdly, most current models have a self-timer that can take up to 10 shots without having to return to the camera.

A lot of useful info can be found online. My favourite review pages are Dave's Picks at http://www.imaging-resource.com/WB/WB.HTM as they offer both short and full reviews, the former including recommendations for the best cameras in each class. My favourite price comparison site is http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/
