Well!

its been a long time coming, after 100's of hours on the beach

i have finally cracked the magical 5lb barrier

caught on a large crab bait at 120yds

2 hours after low water with a 3-4ft surf

this big bugger snatched up me crab bait and went steaming down the beach

she went 8lb 6oz on the scales

quick pic, and slipped back into the breakers

FANTASTIC

nice fish.

looks like a good 5 to me and i`ve seen a few of that size and one from a beach that was 11lb  (not me though :wallbash: )

there is always disagrements about `size` especially bass!!!.

i dont want to get into an arguament but unless you were in the movie `time bandits` or an extra in snow white i cant see how anyone can question the weight :)

what part of the country are you from macky?

Nice fish mate.

Just a quick question, 120yds?? That's along way for a bass, i have never had one more than 40yds out. Is the mark you are fishing unfishable closeer in? I have found right in the surf can be really good with a big launce bait (dead or alive), perhaps you might find more like that? No idea if this technique would work where you are but has served me well for fish to 7lb, most though are in the 4lb range, once had 4 fish all of about 4lb in half an hour to this method. Must have got lucky as it hasn't happened quite that well since...
