my first barbel!

I started off with a nice 3lb 4oz Chub, then later on I had a new PB Bream of 6lb!

 

After the Chub and the Bream I spotted this one solitary Barbel. My girlfriend and I were trying to get him to feed, but he was ignoring everything.

On Sunday we were back in the evening, and this time he was feeling peckish!

at 5lb 4oz not a monster, but i was very happy!!

 

ledgered luncheon meat did the trick.

 

here he is on Saturday is the clear shallow water Barbel in the shallows next to a smaller Bream.

 

here I am with him on Sunday evening Barbel 5lb 4oz

Congratulations, my 1st was 4lb 4oz but it was enough to get me totally hooked on barbel fishing and that was about 15 years or so ago!

well done mate. I caught my first barbel in 2004 on the river lee on essex herts border. not many barbel rivers in our neck of the woods so well done for finding them and catching one.

Ah now I see the dorsal fin I didn't before. Looked like a pikes head! I'll get my coat!

my first was a 6lber and my biggest is a 10.09 all my babrel have been caught in london not the thames or lea either or wandle!
