A mate of mine at work is holidaying in the Wembury Bay area in August. He will be taking his sea gear down and is after some fishing advice for that area.

Thanks in advance :)

Snatcher,

what knd of gear is he taking? Fly gear? Spinning gear or bait lobbing pole?

If he is at the Wembury caravan site he would do well to walk the cliff path to Season Point - the odd ray off the sandbar at the mouth of the Yealm.

Float fishing off the rocks into deep water around Bovisand (5 miles) or Heybrook Bay (3 miles) is good for pollock and wrasse - big ballans from time to time.

Wembury itself is not that good actually - nice beach and extensive rocks to explore, but the fishing is difficult - sometimes, if there is a load of rotting weed on the beach, you can have tremendous sport with mullet on the maggots - around to the right from the beach until you see a pipe going out int the sea. Fish the bay this side of the pipe, that is where the mullet congregate - but only if there is heaps of rotting weed.

Hope that helps.
