Newbie - why can't I contact another member

Hi All,

Sorry, probably some simple mistake I've made here but can you help: I just registered and wanted to send a message to another member. Problem is I'm getting a screen that says I don't have permission to do that. Is it because I'm a newbie? Maybe I can only post on forums until I'm experienced?

Thanks,

Darren.

Yep - to stop the relentless spammers from signing up and abusing the members, all new members need to make at least 15 posts before certain features become available to them :)

14 to go.... :D

I assume thats the same for the "issue" where all posts have to be checked by a Mod first... coz thats annoying =(

To note on that actualy.... it counts up your post count even if the message isnt "vetted" by a mod, might be worth looking at. Not sure how it would handle the "unchecked" messages if (for example), I spammed a thread would those all show up as soon as I hit 15 posts. (not going to do it, just worth Admins looking into)

One of the admin options is to remove an ID along with every post ever made with that ID so even if it worked (and I have no clue if it does or not) the problem would be easily dealt with.

Step #1 - see 15 spammish posts that await approval but not the 35 others that were made

Step #2 - flag account and all posts for removal (requires ticking a box in the 'delete' section)

Step #3 - tick several more boxes to prevent that person from being able to try registering again

Step #4 - click the 'do it to it' button and 50 posts + one spammer vanish as if by magic

Chris, may I just say if you DON'T like that then this may NOT be a forum you will enjoy? As we ALL tend to look out for each other............ OK MOST of the time then!!!!

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))
