Shore fishing

I was looking for good places to go fishing around the edinburgh area,

 

Whats the best fishing at this time of year, apart from mackerel.

 

any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

cant tell tou anything of recent times (and no doupt what follows will be corrected by local knowledge) but when i was a kid ,the back of cockenzie power station was a local hotspot as was the rocks past seton sands holiday camp (known then as the diving board rock) no diving board even then but i have never been back since seton sands was destroyed by the new owners (sassanachs i believe) putting in caravans 3o odd years ago.

there is also a reef straight out from the camp where (then) on very low tides very large crabs could be found ,many a happy hour was spent hooking them out with sticks and selling them at port seton harbour along, with selling pop bottles back to the halfway house (then a shop) a good top up to pocket money was found.

sorry i cant help but seeing seton sands (and happy memories) destroyed i have never been back ta bonny scotland

lieth docks used to be good (heresay) but probably long under management that ban visitors "for their safety"

thanks for the information. i heard something about the back of cockenzie being pretty good for cod, will propably have to wait a few months before its worthwhile going

probably your best bet would be to visit the local tackle shops buy a few bits and bobs and interogate him ,most anglers getting catches worth talking about let it slip in the comfy confines of their supplier after all if you cant brag whats the point of fishing
