When rigging the Yak up to have an anchor do you do this so that the anchor line goes off the Stern or the bow or both and decide on the day!?

Catch and Release fishing is a lot like golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time.

Luffers,

convention has it that you anchor a boat from the bow - this puts her head to the weather and makes her ride more safely than with her stern to the sea.

However, with the kayak if you anchor from the bow you then have to fish over your shoulder when the tide takes your line away.....not very comfortable - but you can sit side saddle and anchor from the bow then you can fish with your line streaming away and be able to control it.

If you want to fish whikle sat in the seat it is more conveneint to anchor form the stern - the design of a kayak is that as they are double ended they still ride the waves happily provided you don't snub her too short - give her more line to ride the sea with. Then the tide will take your line away in front of you.

Easy, see.

Anchor from the stern mostly - my anchor trolley used to run the length of my kayak so I could anchor from the bow - I'm now rerigging it so the anchor trolley runs only from cockpit to the stern.
