Go for it !! i reckon you'll have a great time. Me, CFF and another mate have been talking about doing something similar but haven't decided on a final route yet, the pembrokshire coastline is one of the trips being discussed and the caledonian canal another.

Another book that you may find useful is Welsh Sea Kayaking: 50 Great Sea Kayak Voyages by Jim Krawiecki and Andy Bigg. its available on amazon as well but i think theres about a 2 - 4 week delivery time on it.

post-10585-1160584504_thumb.jpgI've paddled all of that coast (in a 'classic' sea kayak), it really is fabulous, some of the best UK scenery I've seen - in particular the Castlemartin Ranges are awesome.

However, tides are insanely strong and there are some pretty committing sections, plan carefully.

'Welsh Sea Kayaking' is highly recommended - http://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/booksguidebooks.htm

Also, take a look at this, which I wrote - http://www.ukseakayakguidebook.co.uk/short...south_pembs.htm

This site should be pretty useful in general for advice -

http://www.ukseakayakguidebook.co.uk/

Also - http://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/forum/v...opic.php?t=7866

I failed to catch any fish at all, not for want of trying...

Hope that helps...
