Might be of interest to some:

Consultation on proposals to amend Schedule 9 and the use of an order made under Section 14A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

"This consultation seeks comments on proposals to amend Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA), and proposals for species to be listed on an order made under Section 14A of the Act."

As i read it, the Consulation looks for responses to a new lot of fish, plants etc to be deemed illegal to move into the "wild", and also , a more limited group, that will be illegal to sell /trade in etc.

A lot of familiar species in there if you are into garden ponds, aquariums or angling (esp Coarse fishing, but sea-angling also inthere ), yet i don't see a lot of reps from these hobbies/industries in the list of people being consulted;) . Plenty of environmental NGO's , local councils and the usual. ...

No conspiracy theories though :D . They also ask :-

"Please look over the consultation list (Annex A). If you think there are any organisations missing, we would be grateful if you could either alert them to the consultation, or let us know and we will contact them."

[Hi Chris

I had a quick glance but couldn't find anything on sea fish

Hi Ian, theres nothing on sea fish that I've come across but Slipper-limpets are in there. That seems to be it from a seafishing perspective, though I've yet to go right through it.

Going to have to though :( , as there are some significant aquatics trade species in there.

Chris.
