So did I. I used to hire sixteen foot row boats built from either marine ply or aluminium. These boats were not "home made" they were made by craftsmen in local boatyards. They too were Seagull powered and we did not wear any kind of life jackets. There is a big differnce between pottering about on a sea loch in a rowing boat and going out in the North Sea on that contraption.
