They are not carbon shafts though. So little upgrade on your carlisle in fact - they will be heavier probably.

Go for lightness if you are upgrading. No point in partially upgrading. The texalium carlisle is actually not too bad - brilliant for its price.

My advice would be to wait until you can fully upgrade, it will be worth it. The difference between a truely lightweight paddle and a middle of the road one is enormous in paddling comfort.

I agree with simon, if you have a Carlisle 2 piece then upgrading to a N12 Lendal will be of little benefit.

A glass blade and cranked shaft would see more benefit. The Nordkapp is a big blade and pushes a lot of water, fine for a days fishing, but if your putting in a lot of miles, you may find the Kinetic Touring less tiring.

I have the carbon shaft N12 lendal kinetic touring paddle (I think Darnsarf and Spanner have this model too). Quite light for the money and the plastic blades are very tough.

If I were upgrading I'd be looking at buying the paddle Richi has - the Lendal Kinetic Wing (prices seem to have gone up though :schmoll: )
