any views,comments or opinions please on the penn 975.

got one last year, and to be honest, i didn't find it as rugged as the rest of the penn range.

found it takes a lot of looking after.

Bought the 975LD along with the International Braid 20lb. Superb bit of kit, you can hold it all day long, Have to agree with you but a wash with fresh water and a squirt of WD has kept mine looking good.

Penn are not the best reels on the market!!

But whatever reel you use, has to be given regular attention! Whatever reel you use has to be washed off with fresh water after use. The odd strip-down and a little fresh grease wouldn`t go amiss!!

As I`ve got good service out of little `cheap and nasty` reels. I hope you`ve given due attention to your` expensive reels!!
