Strange Baits

Hi

Some of us have been debating the strange biats you get forced to use in extreme circumstances (i.e. last minute trip and you forget to bring the bait!) and so far the list includes

liver

chicken fillet and

banana skins added to pirks.

There is also the myth about someone in Devon landing an 8 lb bass on a mars bar

What have other people had a go with?

bass have been known to take chicken and chips, probably developing the taste from local chippies' customers chucking the left overs in the drink.

found a jigsaw blade in a bass once...spinner?

also i have seen bass snuffle and spit old dead white shells, so im guessing anything white may take their fancy if they're in adventurous mood.

The yanks use loads of stuff like grubs and crickets even mice. Ive got a few mice in the freezer, but i've never tried them.

One of the admiralty night workers on the Portland Harbour is supposed to have caught a 14lb Mullet on his jam sandwiches. Not sure what flavour jam!

Saw a banana skin added to the bottom hook on a hokkai in Ireland this year - the guy didn't catch anything with it, but, on another day, who knows? Used to hear stories about people using bacon rind but never tried it myself.
