i was jst wondering if any knew y pike are unpopular in most lake around the portsmouth south area most local lakes have no pike and i would like 2 catch one

Hello Mike,

Try the Chichester canal basin ------- there are a lot of pike in there but there are also a few bait restrictions.

Tickets on the bank.

Best pike that I've heard of was 17lb,last year. The more usual catches are around 8lb.

 

Bait restrictions are quite fierce ---- no livebaits at all --- only sea deadbaits. Lures and spinners are OK,but it is a public place,and there are a lot of passers by (and spectators) who may not appreciate a treble in the ear...... some folk are a bit funny about pain.

What methods have you been trying in these lakes....pike in different waters often respond to different baits and live/deads.

 

 

You've also got to ask the question of how heavily fished the water is.....I've heard that in pressured waters move away from the bank which will require the use of ballooning, drifer floats of beachcasters to get the baits out to where they are.
