i honestly cant remember ill need to check my permit, good bunch of guys though they are leniant with genuine anglers and not some of the idiots around loch lubnaig. but you probably are very right in that its illegal but somewhat out dated like the no free lining crap that rods must be kept in hand at all times so if yer a stickler for "the law" no more rod rests for you.

 

anywho back on topic, once up my local canal when i was just starting fishing and thinking any roach over 2oz would be excellent i hooked into a huge pike taking my hooked roach, wish i had got that one in
