Les, Hope you enjoy it ....look out for Thomas Law Haulage trucks..a Scania artic, and a Scania 8 wheeler tipper...Blue in colour....if you see them, give Rab and Davy my regards...Rab spent nearly 5 hours getting his truck ready for the show on Thursday...then asked his/our boss Tommy if he was off on Friday to run the lorry through and get it set up....His reply was ...."NAW !!! Now get yersell over to Greenock, you're muck shifting tomorrow" !!!!! Poor guy nearly fainted..... :D:D

Just got back from a few hours in Burntisland. Got a good bag of Mackerel. As Dougie mentioned in an earlier post there were huge shoals moving up and down the breakwater chasing sandeels. The water was bubbling all afternoon - fantastic.

Was a bit disappointed that there were no other species about. I tried float fished rag and then rag on the bottom but had no interest all afternoon. Maybe the tide was the problem as it wasn't fully in - I have plans tonight so couldn't stay after 5.

Not sure I found the exact mark you talked about Dougie but I was on the breakwater behind the harbour - took me a while to find out how to get the car round! Have to say it was almost like a 'Mackerel King' convention. Plenty of dead fish lying around the grass which was nice to see

Quite fancy going back and trying the rocks at the left hand side of the breakwater.

All in all a good day and nice to try a different mark. Was also great to see the Mackerel still about in such large numbers.

good stuff 101!

Thats the bit i was on about...i fished the lows on saturday and sunday evening and had fantastic couple of hours both evenings into darkness!

I had a couple of pollack on saturday evening and had one last night..plus sh*t loads of mackerel!

On the species thing...when we were fishing into dark on saturday night we could see these fish rising that were not mackies..but they would not take anything we put at them...now yesterday there was a guy down who seen the same thing on the morning low tide and he said they were small shoals of mullet!!! Now he is a reputable source..and it kind of makes sense, as he said he has seen them at a sewerage outflow pipe along by the cliffs before..so may have to have a shot at them! And there was a bass about 2lb caught by one of the "mackerel kings" yesterday.

The boy i know who was fishing and seen the mullet in the moring low, was fishing floated fish peeler, and he had a great session. His highlight was a pollack at about 4lb. He had wrasse to and lots of mackerel and a small codling. I think for the wrasse there its best on the high, and fish it now more than ten yards out, thats how i see the majority of wrasse caught there....anyway good to know my tip put you onto some fish!

Popped down to Granton last night for a few hours after work. The weather wasn't great - very windy and pretty rough. Rubbish conditions for Mackerel fishing so not a 'Mackerel King' in sight :D

I had some rag with me so I set up a float rig and fished just out past the ledge. It was almost impossible in the conditions but I stuck with it and was rewarded with a couple of decent Wrasse.

In the end I had to give up with the float. I stuck out the larger rod on the bottom with rag and spun with the light rod. I managed a couple of Mackerel on the spinner which was a surprise and got a nice codling on the bigger rod on my first cast.

I fished well into darkness but didn't get another bite. All in all a very enjoyable evening despite the wind and the fact it was freezing!
