I have phoned a few fishing mates and they all seem to think it's near Flintham.

None of them can give me an address or post code though.

Hope this helps.

Hmmm...we've got a weldec on AN. I wonder if it's the same guy.

Ah...just spotted, the posts on both sites are signed Billy Boy. I'll drop him a line and see if he can help - you never know.

I found that link and a few others, but none for directions.

Using Google Earth only shows one big pond in Fintham, where as the articles i have read mention 3 ponds.

Many thanks for Weldec for this superb reply, sent by email:

Portland Grange, do you know what lake he will be fishing, Old lake /

Canal we are on there on Saturday / four islands lake, I did hear that they

had an Algae bloom on here a couple of weeks ago so not sure if its fishing.

Old Lake:

Favoured pegs around the island, feeder tactics to the island no method,

Pole 8/10 mtrs out depths of around five to six feet

bread on top if they are there. But mostly pellet, cat meat does well also,

some decent sized carp in here, Worm fished over pellet has also produced.

Four Islands:

Predominantly pellet this lake has only been open about 18mths, fish just

over half way depths 4 / 5 ft, if you get the gaps between the islands then

waggler and small feeder does well, corn has also produced some good

weights, carp up to 5lbs in here, a very good selection of stock in this

pond. favoured pegs well they are all much the same we have fished most of

them in pleasure matches and had good weights but then pleasure is a little

different to matches.

Directions:

If you are coming from Nottingham then you will need the A52 then pick up

the A46 to Newark, straight over the next island, continue on for roughly

3/4 miles jsut as you climb the hill you will see a sign for Flintham

pointing right, turn right here and keep going striaght on you will pass

through a small village watch the bends and your speed keep going straight

on until you come out into open country, you will then go over a small

bridge and past a farm on your left, keep straight on, ahead of you you will

see a line of trees to your left slow up near here the turning is on your

left into the fishery it is not sign posted very clearly so watch you dont

go sailing past.

We are fishing there on Saturday in a match on the Canal, so if you need to

meet up I can meet you at the Jet garage just after the island (junction

A6097) near the garden centre, my mobile number is xxxxxxx.

Hope this helps.
