Got a call from Elton this morning while he was out walking his faithful mutt. He'd seen a large barn owl going down for a kill in a nearby field. We were lucky enough to see this beautiful bird from a distance, circling around the field.

 

No telephoto zoom lens to my name, otherwise I'd have been straight off to have a go at catching a picture of it mid flight.

 

Shame.

 

(To be honest, if I had had the chance, likelihood is that I would have fluffed the shots).

 

Anyone here own a Nikon camera store and have a 70-200 VR with 1.4TC that they want to give to me on 'indefinite loan'? :D

If you're being chased by a police dog, try not to go through a tunnel, then on to a little seesaw, then jump through a hoop of fire. They're trained for that.

I've seen that owl again since then. It's not that big for a barn owl (I assume it's a juvenile), but last time I was within 10 feet of it and he wasn't bothered by me at all :)
