Hi chaps I'm after a pole and iv seen a browning first premium 925 on the bay for about £40 and was wonder what your opinions where on this.

I know absolutely nothing about poles but I was after something for corse small fish and maybe small carp.

I'm only going by brand name as I do a but of claying it's what I'm used to.

So if you think this would be suitable or know something else around that price or a bit more many please let me know :)

Thanks in advance chaps :)

Hi

With poles, extra money buys you lightness and stiffness, so cheap poles are likely to be heavier and floppier and very cheap poles are likely to be very heavy and very floppy.

Have you considered second hand? A used and well looked after decent quality pole is almost certain to be better or nicer to use than a cheap new one. I recently bought a second hand Garbolino 12.5m pole with three top kits for £75.00 and I am delighted with it.

Almost anything from a recognised maker is probably OK, particularly Shimano, Maver, Garbolino, Sensas, Drennan, Map. I am sure there are others.

I would be looking up to 14.5M bearing in mind that you won't often use it at full length but a 14.5 M pole used at 10M is likely to be lighter and stiffer than a 10M pole used at full length.

I bought mine from Gumtree with no problems. It helps if you pay buy Paypal (NOT gift) as it gives you some protection. If the seller doesn't want to do that, walk away.

As an example, this looks very good value. Ask him if it has been repaired. Professional repairs aren't really a problem.

It has to be worth a look at the price

PS the sale is nothing to do with me, it is just an example of what might be available.
