In all seriousness I do hope those two tope are caught so the spinners can be removed, assuming they are still in.

I am booked with Ian this Thurday for a days tope fishing. What if!!!!!!! nnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaahhhhhh

Hi Snatcher, If you catch one off Port Logan with rod and reel attached, unhook the tope and keep the tackle. Careless angler over from Bangor on Saturday lost the lot when helping his mate tail a tope about 40 lbs.

Safety habits last a lifetime.

Hi Snatcher,it was not me (Tom!) It was a lad from a local sea angling club that regularly go across in their own 10m boat. They fish off Port Logan and Portpatrick and stay overnight in Portpatrick. Appears that there are a lot of tope around at present. Still intending to get across and fish with you in a few weeks time. Have a good weekend's fishing with your guests.

just out of interest

The tope in this picture was caught by a Mr Flowers in January 1982 It was caught in a gillnet and weighed on commercial scales 118 pounds

Unless the holder of the fish is 7 ft tall then the fish we caught on Sunday was

at least 6 inches longer than this one

Hiya,

I take it there is something other than him holding that fish up ??

if there isn't then there is no way he could hold 118lb like that.

Tope caught a half mile off Goring, West Sussex by Mr. Flowers in January 1982. Weight reported of 53 kg (118 lb) thought to be too heavy for the length (AH). Caught in gill nets.

Weight has not been checked when compared to the estimated length of 175 cm. I would say the weight was more likely to be 36 kg (80 lb). This is a large specimen.

<_<

Ian, i think your guys specimen is some what slimmer ;) still nice fish

Wish it had pulled my string B)
